Anies Becomes Keynote Speaker at Milken Institute Global Conference

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan becomes the keynote speaker in discussion themed ASEAN and The Decades Ahead at Milken Institute Global Conference, Los Angeles, America. 

Jakarta attends in here not only to get knowledge and world experiences

In this discussion, he conveyed the important role of cities in ASEAN. Because there are 42 percent population who live in urban areas. Though it is only around 20 percent when ASEAN is built.

"It is predicted population can reach more than 50 percent by 2020. It also affects economy where 54 percent of GDP in ASEAN which came from urban areas," he stated, Tuesday (5/2), Los Angeles.

According to him, Jakarta is now focusing on development of infrastructure that can give direct benefits to all families.

"Clean water pipe, appropriate house, gas pipe, sanitation, and waste management are development programs which benefits can be received by every families," he explained in discussion where it is moderated by Philippine's former Finance Minister, Cesar Purisima.

He added, this global discussion which is attended by various world leaders who came from private, government, academics, and social institutions is the best momentum to share experiences.

"Jakarta attends in here not only to get knowledge and world experiences. But to share Jakarta experiences to the world," he conveyed.
