Pulomas Equestrian Sterilized to Anticipate Animal Diseases Transmission

In order to succeed Asian Games 2018, East Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Tenacity (KPKP) Sub-dept. anticipates contagious animal disease that can infect athlete's horses by localizing animals that have potential in transmitting diseases.

It is held at the same day with Eid al-Adha thus we need to handle animals within one kilometer radius

East Jakarta KPKP Sub-dept.'s Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Section Head, Irma Budiany said, sterilization is done especially near Pulomas Equestrian. Considering Asian Games will be held at the same time with Eid al-Adha.

"It is held at the same day with Eid al-Adha thus we need to handle animals within one kilometer radius," she explained, Tuesday (7/3).

Her side will prohibit people to sell sacrificial animals within one kilometer radius from Pulomas Equestrian. This way, sick sacrificial animal will not transmit the disease to horses that will compete.

"We also socialize mosque, musala, and slaughterhouse located within one kilometer radius for not cutting sacrificial animals," she added.

Previously, East Jakarta KPKP Sub-dept. already numbered the horse in the area by installing microchip in every horses. Thus horse registration can be done easier and it can informed horses' owners name and address.

Besides, surveillance has been done towards horses near Pulomas Equestrian for three times. Later on, horses will be relocated temporarily in East Jakarta thus it can exit from Jakarta," she stated.
