Vice Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama suggested Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to no longer use coupon mechanism for its fund raising, but use non-cash transaction through bank account instead. It is deemed effective to anticipate fake coupons.

“The use of coupons is vulnerable to forgery. Hence, we support Bank of Indonesia thus the cash transactions be reduced. In the future, PMI must also cooperate with banks, and there should be no more blood brokers or games in PMI,” stated Basuki after inaugurating the 2014 PMI Monthly Fund Committee, at City Hall, Thursday (7/24).

As for PMI Monthly Fund, it will be held for six months from July 17 until January 17. Bambang Sugiyono, who is Assistant to City Secretary for Jakarta Community Health Division, is chosen as chairman of the 2014 PMI Monthly Fund Committee.

Meanwhile, Jakarta PMI Chairwoman, Rini Sutiyoso, hopes there would be more people to participate in PMI Monthly Fund activity. Last year, Jakarta PMI collected Rp 18.5 billion. This year, PMI Monthly Fund is still using coupons in nominal from Rp 10,000, Rp 5,000, Rp 2,000, Rp 1,000, and Rp 500.

“Through this activity, we believe all problems could be resolved well,” she expressed.
