PDAM: Water Supply at 51 Asian Games Venues is Safe

Besides ensuring the supply, it is also done on the quantity, quality and continuity of the water,

City PDAM along with two partners namely Palyja and Aetra ensures that clean water supply at 51 points of venues is fulfilled.

Barce Simarmata, Director of City PDAM Technical disclosed that 16 out of 51 venues are PAM customers, 27 venues are indirect customers who are served through the master meter to area managers such as Ancol and BLU Setneg for Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) and PPK Kemayoran/Athletes' Homestead, and 8 venues are not PAM customers (groundwater users).

"Besides ensuring the supply, it is also done on the quantity, quality and continuity of the water," he expressed, Tuesday (8/14).

He explained that this commitment is proven by the increase in services such as relocation and rehabilitation of master meters in the GBK area. It is to increase the water supply to the area from 10 liters/second to 50 liters/second. His side also increased the pressure from 0.3-0.7 atm.

His side also increased the utilization of raw water in the west flood canal (KBB) through the moving bed bioreactor (MBBR) technology that uses microbes to reduce ammonia contained in raw water to improve the quality for further processing.

"Water supply is optimized by setting the allocation and pressure of water from the Pejompongan 1 water treatment plant to Senayan area by paying attention to the surrounding areas thus the water needs are met," he explaine d.

The PDAM, Palyja and Aetra have also built a booster pump (press pump), and Sunter reservoir that is located in opposite of BMW Park, Jalan Sunter Permai Raya, North Jakarta that serves to increase the continuity of water supply and pressure for Kemayoran area, Ancol, Martadinata, Gunung Sahari, and Pademangan.

Booster Pump has pumping capacity of 800 liters/second and 2,500 cubic meters of reservoir capacity. He also accelerated the construction of control room facilities in the IPA Buaran AETRA.

"This control room serves as monitoring, analyzing and controlling the production process operations from raw water becomes clean water, as well as the distribution process to customers by online," he stated.
