Tomang Residents Invited to Maintain Water Channel

West Jakarta Mayor, Rustam Effendi has encouraged residents living in Grogol Petamburan to anticipate inundation in the upcoming rainy season.

"I invite them to take part in maintaining water channels to minimize inundation in the rainy season," he stated, during a welcoming ceremony of Asian Para Games Torch Relay in Branding Village RW 02, Tomang, Tuesday (10/2).

He expressed that he was still serving as Head of Grogol Petamburan Sub-district when the West Canal Flood (BKB) Dam collapsed that passed in RW 13 Tomang in 2005

"Yet this dam already has a sheet pile. Thus Tomang will be free from inundation," he stated.

Therefore, he asks locals to maintain the channel in each respective environments. Thus water can flow smoothly when it rains.

"I have declared West Jakarta to be free of inundation starting from Branding Village RW 02 Tomang," he stated.
