City to Fix Parking System

The finding of revenue leakage from on-street parking managed Jakarta Provincial Government is causing a loss amounting to hundreds of billions of rupiah. Hence, Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo takes the initiative to fix existing parking system in the capital city by imposing official parking system.

We’ll fix parking system, use official system by implementing meter-parking system which deemed able to anticipate illegal parking caused by low supervision

We’ll fix parking system, use official system by implementing meter-parking system which deemed able to anticipate illegal parking caused by low supervision. All areas, if not improved, we’ll be rampant with illegal parking,” stated Jokowi at City Hall, Tuesday (8/5).

Previously, Head of Jakarta Parking Technical Unit, Sunardi Sinaga, plans to fix on-street parking system in the city by imposing e-parking system (electronic parking system).

City Assessed to have Failed Encouraging Jukir On Street to Jukir Off Street

“In the future, there will be no parking officer anymore. Everything uses meter-parking system,” he asserted.

Later, Sinaga explained, any vehicle that is parked on the street will be charged per hour. This e-parking system is expected to suppress potential for leaks in parking income.

“About Rp 200 billion per year leaks from on-street parking revenue. It happens because there are many parties play in the parking business, like thugs who are collecting charges (illegally),” he uttered.

According to Sinaga, at this time the on-street parking revenue only reaches Rp 26 billion per year which goes to the regional treasury. That amount includes parking revenue from IRTI Monas.
