Komisi B DPRD DKI Minta Dinas Pariwisata Tingkatkan Budaya Betawi

City Suggested to Optimize Betawi Cultural Arts Events

Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission B suggested City to optimize Betawi Cultural Arts Festival event and schedule it as Jakarta Tourism and Culture Dept. (Disparbud)'s annual event.

If possible, I suggest it to be annual event thus it can attract foreign tourists to visit Jakarta

Jakarta DPRD Commission B Secretary, Mualif said, if this event could be done routinely every year, Betawi cultures and arts could be more preserved and developed in mass and it is also potential to attract more foreign tourists.

38 Art Events Have Been Held in Jakarta This Year

"If possible, I suggest it to be annual event thus it can attract foreign tourists to visit Jakarta. Don't be afraid to allocate budget even up to billions rupiah if it is clearly useful," he conveyed while having APBD 2019 draft meeting with Disparbud at Commission B meeting room, Jakarta DPRD, Wednesday (10/24).

He considered, Disparbud performance is not too optimal in empowering and developing Betawi cultural arts such as ondel-ondel, tanjidor, martial arts (pencak silat), palang pintu tradition, and others.

"Indeed, Disparbud has programed events, but we see its result is not too optimal because each event has small budget," he conveyed.
