Five craftsmen under Jakarta Regional National Craft Council (Deskranasda) once again performed at the 2019 Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) event in Senayan City, Central Jakarta.

This is also our effort to promote the culture of Betawi

These craftsmen are Nita Seno Adji, Batik Marunda, Klambi Abite, Batik Story, and Culture Edge. In the event, they displayed a variety of clothing with their unique characteristics. 

Through the big theme "Spirit of Jakarta", the Deskranasda presented 35 fashion designs that favor various cultures and trends in Jakarta.

The work of Nita Seno Adji was inspired by the beauty of the rice crust flower that is commonly used to treat the facial beauty of women in the past. The exoticism is poured in a mixture of organza, tayet and tile with embroidery creations.

In the meantime, Wendy Sibarani from Batik Marunda presented works with inspiration for social values and mutual cooperation. Wendy emphasized the birth of quality Betawi batik.

Then for Naviaty Mudita and Kartika Lubis from Klambi Abite, presented works that carry the theme "Java and Batavia Nature Hybrid".

Both dare to combine the brightness of Betawi batik with Yogyakarta-style strives that make fashion look attractive by designing current trends and still displaying ethnic sides.

Aditya Bregas Pradana from Batik Story, presented bold works through modification of motifs, techniques, and materials used thus batik is increasingly favored as clothing among millennials.

There are also interesting works of Linda and Sarah from Culture Edge who carry the theme "Look to East-Sumba Glam" because of their sensitivity to fashion trends in Jakarta that are heading towards East Indonesia. Indonesian culture is introduced with modern and edgy in accordance with the personality of Jakarta people.

Jakarta Dekranasda Chairperson, Fery Farhati expressed that Jakarta is indeed inseparable from various cultures in Indonesia.

"If the richness of Jakarta's culture is combined with other cultures, it will produce captivating craft works that describe Jakarta as a whole," he expressed, Thursday (10/25). 

He explained that it was an effort to provide opportunities for trained craftsmen to introduce and market their work to the wider community.

"This is also our effort to promote the culture of Betawi," he stated.

As for the information, they have participated in the JFW event since 2010.

This year they had the opportunity to hold a talk show themed "International Standard Fashion" as well as taking part in the exhibition from October 22-26, 2018 at the Fashion Link Area, 8th Floor, Senayan City.
