Education and Culture Ministry Holds Indonesian Language Congress XI

Education and Culture Ministry through Language Development and Fostering Agency holds Kongres Bahasa Indonesia (KBI) XI or Indonesian Language Congress XI in a hotel located on Jalan Jendral Sudirman, Central Jakarta, on October 28-31. This event's theme is 'Menjayakan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia' ('Strive for Indonesian Language and Literature').

Education and Culture Ministry's Language Development and Fostering Agency Head, Dadang Sunendar stated, this event reviews about national identity that must be upheld and prioritized as it is mandated in Youth Pledge 1928 and now it is mentioned legally in Article 25 of Law No. 24/2009. 

"Indonesian Language Congress (KBI) XI is held with theme 'Strive for Indonesian Language and Literature'," he conveyed, Sunday (10/29).

He informed, this event is participated by 27 speakers and invited guests and 72 selected domestic and foreign journal writers. There are total 1,031 people attended in this event, including stakeholders such as public officials, academics, cultural figures, activists, experts, teachers, Indonesian and regional languages and literature practitioners or observers.

"In this congress, some language and literature products will be launched such as Indonesian Dictionary in Braille, Language and Language Map book, Online Language Proficiency Test (UKBI), Indonesian Language for literacy reading, Vocational Dictionary, Field of Study and Application of Foreign Terms of Reference (SPAI)," he explained.
