Jakarta Industry and Energy (PE) Dept. is about to add more infiltration wells as an effort to prevent land subsidence.
We will also build 33 infiltration wells with 30-40 meters depth to supply water to aquifer
Jakarta PE Dept.'s Acting Head (Plt), Ricki M. Mulia stated, around 1,300 infiltration wells with three meters depth will be made in 2019.
"We will also build 33 infiltration wells with 30-40 meters depth to supply water to aquifer," he conveyed, Tuesday (11/27).
Groundwater Utilization Operations Conducted in Two Industrial AreasIn order to minimizing land subsidence, the dept. continues to monitor and control excessive use of groundwater and those who are violating the rules.
"We will reprimand them by giving warning, sealing, and closing," he said.
He explained, 11 real time monitoring wells using telemetry system have been built to monitor water level condition in Jakarta. While other 5 monitoring wells are built this year.
"Next year, we will build 21 new monitoring wells. We will also build Extensometer station to monitor land subsidence per rock layer," he informed.
Land subsidence is caused by several factors such as natural consolidation from relatively young Jakarta lithology, ground water excessive exploitation, heavy loads from buildings, tectonics, and geological structures.
