“The revitalization of 14 old buildings will be started next year. We hope that everything would finish in two years ahead,” said Vice Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama, Monday (8/11).

According to Basuki, the project involves consortium of State-owned Enterprises (BUMN), as the owners of those old buildings, and private parties.

“Jakarta Provincial Government acts as supervisor, giving directions on arrangements, and coordination facilitator with central government,” he told.

As many as 10 developers have committed to cooperate in building Kota Tua. And in line with the revitalization work, Jakarta Provincial Government will also build a passageway that will connect the area behind BNI Building to Keramik Museum and Fatahillah Museum.

“So, later Jakarta will have a diamond complex, plus free-ride double-decker buses going round of Pasar Baru, Gambir, Tanah Abang, everything. People coming to Jakarta would definitely feel the taste of heaven in culinary, shopping, and sightseeing,” stated Basuki.
