Demolition of 50 Illegal Buildings Went Intense

The demolition of 50 illegal buildings on the bank of Tebet Station railways until Cawang Station on Jalan Tebet Timur Dalam 3 and 11, Tebet Timur Urban Village, Tebet Sub-District, South Jakarta, Monday (8/18), went intense. Some of the members of a mass organization who guard since morning tried to cast the officers who were about to demolish a post using a bulldozer.

“We support Jakarta Provincial Government’s programs, but don’t demolish like this,” said one of the protesters.

To avoid clash, the officers finally gave opportunity to those mass organization members to demolish the post themselves under supervision so the process runs quick.

300 Illegal Buildings Around Mampang River Demolished

According to Tebet Sub-District, Mahludin, his party has given chance to the owners of those illegal buildings to demolish their buildings themselves. But until the specified time limit expired, they still not do so. As a result, the officers had to demolish those buildings forcibly.

“We’ve warned them and given those illegal building owners a chance to do the demolition themselves. But since it has not been done until now, we will not tolerate,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Head of Tebet Timur Urban Village, Yunaenah, told there are 50 illegal buildings demolished. Those buildings were previously used as food stalls, top-up stalls, motorcycle wash, RW post, mass organization post, and traffic police post which located beside Tebet Station. As many as 250 joint personnel are deployed, including four trucks to carry out building remnants.

“Those illegal buildings crossed RW 01, 03, 06, an 11 in Tebet Timur Urban Village. The owners had been warned since early this year, but they asked for delay until now we demolish their buildings,” she stated.
