3,000 CCTVs will Be Installed on Main Roads in Jakarta

As many as 3,000 closed circuit televisions (CCTV) will be installed on the main roads in the capital. Later on, they would be equipped with advance technology, namely fourth generation or 4G.
Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama disclosed that CCTV installation is the obligation of the provider. "The provider will do presentation on Wednesday. We want the CCTV could be equipped with advance technology thus all cars' plate number can be detected in detail," he expressed, at City Hall, Tuesday (8/19).

In addition, the provider was also asked to install street lights because many street lights in Jakarta damaged. "We use the 4G system. That means almost all the main roads will be installed CCTV," said man who popularly called as Ahok.
He added that CCTV installation does not use the City Budget (APBD) anymore. "If we use the APBD, the program would not run well. Thus we decided to cooperate with private side," he explained.
Head of Section and Information Data for Jakarta Communication, Information, and Public Relation Department, Alberto Ali disclosed CCTV installation was targeted to be done in 2015. Currently, his side can only control over 118 CCTVs.
As planned, all CCTVs would also be controlled by the Communication, Information, and Public Relation Department, Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Transportation Department, and Spatial Planning Department.
His department also plans to install CCTVs at recreational sites, small streets until villages all over Jakarta. "Certainly, we have specified the installation places. The public can also see the city activities, like those who want to go to office through Jalan Sudirman can check it via our website," he told.
