Security in City Hall Tightened

The security in City Hall as well as guard to Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor are tightened prior to the verdict on presidential election result dispute that will be announced by the Constitutional Court (MK) today, Thursday (8/21).

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the guard to Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama reaches two adjutant teams, with each team consists of five men. Usually, they guarded Basuki alternately, even during the legislative election, presidential election, presidential election result announcement by General Election Commission (KPU), and presidential election result lawsuit filing to MK.
Basuki arrived at City Hall at 7.30 AM. Behind his car there was a convoy of two cars contained his personal adjutants. 30 minutes later, Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo arrived. He was guarded by eight men.

“Ask it to Indonesian Police Chief (Gen. Sutarman),” he said.
According to City Hall inner security (Pamdal) commandant, Mohammad Yusuf, the security in City Hall is tightened because it is one of the vital objects located within ring 1.
“There are two types of security, visible and invisible. The invisible is the security officers wearing civilian clothes,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the City Hall gates are each guarded by five Pamdal officers, from usually only two officers at each gate.
“There are also additional Pamdal officers in Jakarta Parliament (DPRD) building, where each gate is guarded by five officers. While in the governor and vice governor offices, the security there remains the same,” told Yusuf.
Besides internal security forces, the City Hall is also guarded by three companies of policemen. However, there is no water cannon vehicle or barracuda car put on standby. Even so, the policemen are fully armed with rifles, tear gases, and shields.
