City to Hold Various Events to Enliven Jakarta's 492nd Anniversary

Jakarta Government will hold interesting events to celebrate Jakarta's 492nd Anniversary. This year's concept is about creative economy and cultures. Government hopes this event can improve Jakarta's economy and relationship between Jakartans to be more closer through arts and cultures.

We hold this event for all Jakartans

"We hold this event for all Jakartans. It would be better if domestic and foreign tourists can also participate in this event. Through this event, we want to socialize the great artworks and creative products made by Jakarta youths. We hope participants can support them in order to improve economy in Jakarta," said Anies Baswedan as quoted from Jakarta PPID press release, Thursday (6/20).

Here are the list of events in Jakarta to celebrate the 492nd Anniversary:

Area Under JORR Toll Beautified With Mural Paintings

Live Mural

Live Mural Jakarta Anniversary is held on Jalan Kendal's Tunnel, Central Jakarta. It is supported by BRI Peduli and participated by college students from Visual Communication Design (DKV) and Paramadina University's Hima Rupakapala that cooperates with iMural to paint murals with theme 'New Face of Jakarta' along north side wall of the tunnel (it is located on the left side from MRT Station). This live mural is on June 17-21 from 9.00 AM to 6 PM.

Semasa Piknik (by Semasa di Kota Tua) & Pasar Raia Keliling Vol 2 (by Sadari Sedari)

Jakarta Government returns to collaborate with Semasa di Kota Tua to provide a place for creative economy entrepreneurs to promote their products. This creative bazaar is held outdoor with picnic concept which is called Semasa Piknik. There are more than 60 creative artisans who participated in this event. People can visit this place to buy or enjoy various creative products, such as clothes, ceramics, culinary and others.

Government also collaborates with Sadari Sedari that is focus on second-hand clothes donation that will be used to improve education in Indonesia. This collaboration creates Pasar Raia Keliling Vol. 2 event which consists of Garage Sale that sales clothes from famous artists and influencers in Indonesia such as Agni Pratista, Vania Herlambang, and Alexandra Asmasoebrata; music performance; Gelar Wicara, and environment installation exhibition. All the profit will be donated to LKSA Nurul Ihsan and Skola Lipu in Central Sulawesi.

These two events will be held at Lapangan Banteng on June 22-23, 2019, at 10 AM – 6.30 PM. Dancing Water Fountain to show on the last day of the event at 6.30 PM, 8.30 PM, and 8.15 PM. This creative market is held by support from Pasar Jaya, BRI Peduli, Gojek, and Shopee.

The Highlight of Jakarta's 492nd Anniversary Event: Wajah Baru Jakarta

The New Face of Jakarta is held on June 22, 2019. It combines traditional and technology elements to show colossal traditional dance using traditional song and costumes, immersive video mapping, and water screen. There are three parts in this event: Jakarta Tempo Doeloe, Jakarta Membangun, and Wajah Baru Jakarta. it will be enlivened with performances from Pasha, Kotak, Siti Badriah, and Wali.

Night of the Peak event of Wajah Baru Jakarta can be accessed via live streaming at detik.com and CNNIndonesia.com from 8.40 PM to 8 PM and On Air via Trans TV and CNN Indonesia Transvision from 8 PM to 9 PM.

Thousand Islands ‘Indie Festival’

Jakarta Government also holds music festival in Thousand Islands called Indie Festival which is held in Tidung Island on June 22, 2019, at 3.30 PM - 12 AM. This music festival is enlivened by Pusakata, Danilla, Sisitipsi, and Alivandra Project. Besides enjoying Indie Music Festival, people can enjoy various culinary sold by Tidung Island UKM.

Jakarnaval

Jakarnaval is held on June 30, from 3.30 PM to 10 PM. This art parade takes theme of Wajah Baru Jakarta (New Face of Jakarta) which consists of culture parade, modern parade, ornamental vehicles parade, and musical performances from famous singers, Krisdayanti, Iwa K., and Ada Band. Jakarnaval participants are divided into two routes. First is for people parade who will walk from United States Embassy, Jakarta City Hall, Jalan MH. Thamrin, Sarinah intersection, then take turn to Monas via Monas Southwest Entrance. Second is for ornamental vehicle parade that starts from United States Embassy, Jakarta City Hall, Jalan MH. Thamrin, Bundaran HI, Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Arjuna Wijaya Statue, then in front of RRI Office. This parade will be sent by Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan.

Jakarta International Photo Festival (JIPFest) 2019

Jakarta International Photo Festival (JIPFest) 2019 is the first international photo festival held in Indonesia. Its theme is 'Identity' and held at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Central Jakarta, and several public spaces in Jakarta on June 25-July 9, 2019.

This festival shows 13 programs: Exhibitions, Fringe, Workshops, Urban Photo Tour, VIP Dinner, Performances, Bazaar, Panel Discussions, Artist Talks, Public Lectures, Portfolio Review, Projection Nights, and Awards.

It is joined by 50 participants who are from various professions, even local and foreign photographers can join this competition. People can access further information from website www.jipfest.com.
