August 1-4, South Jakarta KPKP Inspects 8,139 Qurban Animals

Until now, we have checked total 8,139 qurban animals

South Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-department inspected 66 qurban animal shelters in 10 sub-districts during August 1-4, 2019.

207 Qurban Animals Inspectors Deployed in East Jakarta

South Jakarta KPKP Sub-department Head, Wachyuni, her side deployed 192 joint personnel to inspect animals health and physical condition whether it is fit to be sacrificed for Eid al-Adha or not. Joint personnel were 88 KPKP Department and Sub-department personnel, 65 students from IPB's Veterinary Medicine Faculty, 7 personnel of Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Health, 38 vets from Indonesian Veterinary Association in Jakarta.

"Until now, we have checked total 8,139 qurban animals consist of 2,243 cows; 26 buffaloes; 5,262 goats; and 608 lambs," she informed, Tuesday (8/6).

In this inspection, her side also ensured those animals are free from anthrax and zoonosis diseases, have good physical condition, and old enough to be sacrificed for Eid al-Adha. Besides, her side also check qurban animals meet after slaughtering to ensure its meat are safe for consumption.

"We remind residents to buy qurban animals from shelters that have passed our qualification to get healthy and halal animals. We also ask qurban committee to distribute qurban meat using eco-friendly containers," she said.
