North Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) will check health of sacrificial animals this early August, starting H-10 until H+3 of Eid al-Adha.
After slaughtering, we will also ensure its meat is safe for consumption
North Jakarta KPKP Sub-department Head, Rita Nirmala conveyed, her side will focus on checking animal shelters on the days before Eid al-Adha and monitoring slaughtering place on Eid al-Adha and the days after.
150 Officers Prepared to Monitor Qurban Animals"We will visit animal shelters to check animals health, physical condition and others to ensure whether the animals are fit to be sacrificed or not," she explained, Monday (7/29).
Her side will cooperate with Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) University and Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI) to check the animals before and after Eid al-Adha.
"After slaughtering, we will also ensure its meat is safe for consumption," she added.
She informed, last year her side has examined 8,415 animals consist of lamb, goat, cow, and buffalo in 135 animal shelters in 6 sub-districts of North Jakarta. She has found 12 unfit animals due to sick, malformation, and not old enough to be sacrificed.
"We wil
l give medicine for sick animals and warn the sellers for not selling unfit animals due to age and disability," she conveyed.
