City to Add More Green Open Spaces in Jakarta

Jakarta Provincial Government continues to add more green open spaces (RTH) to improve air quality in Jakarta.

Each building is required to provide 30 percent of its area for RTH

Jakarta Deputy Governor for Spatial Planning and Environment Division, Oswar Muadzin Mungkasa mentioned, it is considered effective to reduce air pollution since currently Jakarta does not have many green open spaces.

South Jakarta Government is Committed to Improve Air Quality

"Each building is required to provide 30 percent of its area for RTH," he conveyed, Wednesday (8/7).

According to him, air pollution in Jakarta is 70 percent caused by motor vehicle, 20 percent from industry and 5 percent from residents’ activities. Moreover, total green open space in Jakarta is only 9.8 percent of its total area. It means government should put out all efforts to reduce air pollution in Jakarta.

"Now, we are intensifying out effort to add more green spaces in several regions. So we hope residents can support us by using public transport in their daily activities," he asserted.
