City-FDTJ Collaborates to Install Public Transport Signage in Sudirman

Jakarta Government via Transportation Department collaborates with Jakarta Transportation Discussion Forum (FDTJ) to install road signs in 28 non-BRT shelters along Sudirman Corridor. These road signs will be written in two language to facilitate citizens and foreign tourists in getting information related to public transportation. PT. Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, and creative community Kreavi are also involved in this collaboration

"This is collaboration between government and communities in order to realize City 4.0 concept in Jakarta," stated Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan in road sign installation ceremony held at Gelora Bung Karno non-BRT shelter, Jalan Sudirman, Tuesday (8/13).

There are map, signage, and way finding signs that will be installed starts from non-BRT shelter in Gelora Bung Karno and continued to be installed gradually in other 27 non-BRT shelters.

"Community or civil society has innovation and creativity. While government has power to realize and develop it. That's why it needs collaboration work between government and civil society to solve problems in this city," he explained as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Conference.

According to him, information related to public transportation is important to be provided in the roads. Because currently his side implements Odd-Even System and motor vehicle restriction policy in several main roads of Jakarta to reduce vehicle emission gas.

Public transportation, he continued, is also integrated and become easier to be accessed by most people.

"We want to install map of all public transportation modes in Jakarta. From MRT, LRT, micro bus, public minivan and others," he asserted.

He ensures that Jakarta Government is always open to all inputs because his side believes innovation and suggestions from communities can be a perfect way to solve city's problems.

"I hope schools and families can teach their children to learn about public transportation through this signage. If possible, we want to encourage all children to prefer using public transportation than private cars. Hopefully it could improve number of public transport users," he mentioned.
