930 Families in Kampung Pulo to Be Relocated

As many as 930 families who live on the bank of Ciliwung River, RW 01-03, Kampung Pulo, Kampung Melayu Urban Village, Jatinegara Sub-District, East Jakarta, will be relocated soon to flats. This relocation is conducted because the project of Ciliwung River normalization has been started. But before moving there, they will be gathered first in Jatinegara Sub-District office for socialization and then taken to the flats where they would live eventually.

However, most of them are still registering in Kampung Melayu Urban Village office. And for the residents who have land certificates, they will certainly get compensation in accordance to Tax Object Selling Value (NJOP) in that area,” stated Head of Jatinegara Sub-District, Sofyan Taher, Monday (9/1).

According to Head of Jakarta Region III Flat Management Unit, Sayid Ali, the three flats ready to accommodate RW 01-03 Kampung Pulo residents affected by Ciliwung River normalization project are Cipinang Besar Selatan (200 units), Jatinegara Kaum (200 units), and Pulogebang (160 units).

“We have prepared three flats for Kampung Pulo residents. In the future, there will be additional of new units, especially if the Jatinegara Barat Flat construction finished,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chief of RT 03/03 Kampung Pulo, Budi, admitted surprised with this relocation plan because there is no socialization done until now by local urban village and sub-district officials. Not only that, the news on Jatinegara Sub-District Head to issue demolition warrant this week had made Kampung Pulo residents restless.

“There is no socialization. Why the (Jatinegara) Sub-District Head has prepared demolition warrant? It makes the residents restless. They asked us, but we ourselves as RT caretakers don’t know,” he uttered.

In addition, Budi told that many Kampung Pulo residents have proofs of landownership, such as landownership certificates (SHM), verponding (properties), girik (documentary evidence), until landownership certificates signed by urban village head in 1970s.

“The residents are restless because there is no clarity yet about the relocation. We see that the fate of 13 permanent shop-house owners is not clear. Their buildings were demolished first then the compensation discussed,” he expressed.
