Ciliwung River Normalization, 13 Buildings Razed to the Ground

The demolition of buildings on Jalan Jatinegara Barat, Kampung Pulo, Kampung Melayu, Jatinegara Sub-District, East Jakarta, which affected by Ciliwung River normalization project, continues. As many as 13 buildings are razed to the ground using three backhoes and two fire trucks.

The residents who have complete land documents will certainly be paid in accordance to NJOP (tax object selling value). The compensation will even include the building and its contents

“After this, four amphibian vehicles will go onto Ciliwung River. Public Works Ministry will also deploy heavy equipment to install sheet pile. The normalization project is carried out by the ministry,” stated Head of Jakarta Satpol PP, Kukuh Hadi Santoso, Saturday (8/30).

Meanwhile, Head of Utilities Network Facilities and Infrastructures Division for Jakarta Public Works Department, Edy Sudrajat, admitted that the 13 building owners have not received compensation money yet. However, his party has handed over the matter to East Jakarta Land Procurement Team (P2T) to accelerate the compensation payment.

“The residents who have complete land documents will certainly be paid in accordance to NJOP (tax object selling value). The compensation will even include the building and its contents. But, the party to do so is the East Jakarta P2T,” he uttered.

Until now, Satpol PP personnel are still finishing the demolition process. Hundreds of scavengers are also seen crowding the demolition site.
