KPKP Head Appreciates Mr. Yatno for Developing Urban Farming in Malakasari

Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Depertment Head, Darjamuni appreciates residents who take a part in developing urban farming in Malakasari Urban Village, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

Thank you for Mr. Yatno who turns unproductive land into productive by optimizing it for urban farming

He mentioned, Yatno Gondrong is one of the Malakasari residents who uses vacant land in his area to plant grape.

"Thank you for Mr. Yatno who turns unproductive land into productive by optimizing it for urban farming thus the area become greener and its cultivation can give economy values," he stated, Monday (9/23).

He informed, Yatno Gondrong who works as Public Facility Maintenance (PPSU) personnel also plants 60 variety of imported grape seeds on 800 square meters land.

"Currently, Malakasari has a vineyard that can be used for pilot project. Mr. Yatno who is coached by East Jakarta KPKP Sub-department won in Temu Karya Competition at Jakarta provincial level. Later, he will represent DKI Jakarta in Temu Karya Competition at national level that will be held in Padang next year," he explained.

Meanwhile, Yatno Gondrong named this vineyard 'Kebun Imut Si Nakal' which is abbreviation from Kebun Imut Sigap Niat dan Berakal.

"I made an innovation by using honey as a plant stimulant (ZPT) for grape seeds and grafting," he mentioned.

According to him, both East Jakarta KPKP Sub-department and local urban village sides have helped him in realizing urban farming especially for grape cultivation.

"I get mentoring and training related with plant cultivation, including pest control. Thus our grape has great quality," he stated.
