Anies Inaugurates Indiskop which Presents Equality for Jakarta People

The Perumda Pasar Jaya collaborates with PT Kreasi Anak Bangsa (Keana Films-Production) and Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) have finally completed the People's Cinemas located in the Teluk Gong Market, North Jakarta.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan inaugurated this Indoscope People's Cinema in concept of "Edusinema, Creative Space, Indonesian Cuisine" at Teluk Gong Market, 3rd Floor, Jalan Teluk Gong Raya, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Monday (10/7) afternoon.

He hopes it can bring equality to all levels of Jakarta people, especially the pre-prosperous, as they can watch movies in theaters at affordable prices.

For the people, it is one of the third spaces to interact and get entertainment that can create a sense of togetherness.

"Alhamdulillah, this is a new chapter, not just for the cinema in this place, but a new chapter for the people in Jakarta. This is a new chapter for building equality. This is very important, thus residents can have a space of interaction. And once there is space for interaction, what we are talking about as a feeling of togetherness and closeness that will emerge through places like this," Anies explained as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He furthered the Jakarta Provincial Government will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to present Indiskop People's Cinemas throughout the capital city.

"Therefore we start every market to build Indiskop, especially in places where socioeconomic challenges are high. If it is success, we have to support it and find the way to promote this place, including to schools. InsyaAllah, it would be a pilot for other places," he expressed.

He also wants the Indiskop management to be carried out as well as possible, including in maintaining and managing its facilities.

"This is our challenge to maintain its cleaness to be more neater and orderly. Prices may be cheap, but its management must be full of Indonesian nuances and also must be clean and modern as same as other cinemas with high ticket prices," he exclaimed.

As for the information, its presence acts to provide a means of access to watch and expand the opportunity to watch films for small and medium communities, as well as also provides opportunities for Indonesian films to be increasingly enjoyed by the wider community.

It is a value-added economy for the creative economy and SME sectors as a result of the many cinemas and the number of film productions. This is also expected to provide benefits to Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) recipients, as the ticket price is quite cheap compared to the other cinemas in general.

The Teluk Gong Indiskop itself consists of 2 studios with 110 seats per studio. Every Monday to Friday, the ticket price is sold at Rp 18,000 and Rp 25,000 every Saturday and Sunday. During socialization to the public, the film was shown from 1 PM every day. Visitor levels on a normal day are still quite minimal, but for weekends the visitor level looks quite high.

This inauguration ceremony is also attended by Perumda Pasar Jaya President Director Arief Nasrudin; Bekraf Head Teiawan Munaf; Keana Films Managing Director Marcela Zalianti, Jakarta Provincial Government officials; and Indonesian Film figures. The Indiskop development also gets support from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and the Indonesian Film Artists Association (Parfi) 56.
