Forestry Agency to Have Special Facilities for Composting

The Jakarta Forestry Agency is developing a special facility for composting that will use waste from tree pruning.

The capacity per day can reach 50 trucks

Jakarta Forestry Agency's Urban Plant Development Management Unit Head Yati Sudiharti said its development has been conducted since September and is targeted to be finished in December.

"Our current focus is the management office, compost processing facilities and access roads," she expressed, Friday (10/11).

She explained the composting facility uses a 6,000-square-meter width land belongs to the Forestry Agency on Jalan Kebagusan Raya, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

"The capacity per day can reach 50 trucks. Currently it is still under development process," she told.

It will be completed with two units of big-sized wood chipper and three units of small-sized wood chipper. The waste transported can be processed into compost in just a few minutes.

"If the waste arrives, we will put it in the chipper. It works very fast at least one hour," she told.

Afterwards the compost will be used for fertilizing plants in the seed garden and in the open green spaces (RTH).

"By doing independently, we make savings related to meeting the needs of compost for plants," she stated.
