Commission B Supports PE to Improve City Lighting

Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission B highly supports Industry and Energy (PE) Department to improve city lighting, including for aesthetic purpose.

If possible, implement the lighting system that supports the tourism sector

Commission B Chairman, Abdul Aziz mentioned, lighting is important, especially in crime-prone areas.

"Lighting in underpass, bridge, and under flyover should be optimized," he asserted when reviewing City Budget (APBD) General Policy and Provisional Budget Priorities and Funding Levels (KUA-PPAS) 2020 at Jakarta DPRD Building, Thursday (11/7).

According to him, lighting should be focus in Thousand Islands thus local residents can experience the development.

"Thousand Islands is one of National Tourism Strategic Area. If possible, implement the lighting system that supports the tourism sector," he stated.

Meanwhile, Jakarta PE Department Acting Head (Plt), Ricki Marojahan Mulia said, his side receives all those constructive inputs from Commission B.

"We are agreed that lighting can support city's aesthetic and we will continue to optimize it," he stated.

He mentioned that PE Department he has mapped priority areas, such as Jalan Kendal as the meeting point for various public transport users.

"Jalan Kendal also a third space area. Because it is the meeting point of people who use MRT, Transjakarta bus, Commuter Line, and Soekarno-Hatta Airport Train. We will beautify the area with beautiful lighting based on needs," he said.

For information, Jakarta PE Department proposed budget of Rp 528.37 billion in KUA-PPAS 2020.
