City Works on Tourism Market for Taiwanese

Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department has just finished holding Jakarta tourism promotional event in Taipei Grand Hyatt, Taiwan, on September 7-11. In this event, 50 tourism entrepreneurs were participated, including golf course management in Jakarta. The event was also enlivened by the performances of renowned artists and chefs who performed art culture shows and culinary dishes.

“The 2014 Taiwan Road Show was the form of Jakarta Provincial Government’s spirit in making tourism sector as one of the backbones of regional economy. Through that event, we also informed that Jakarta is safe and conducive for foreign tourists,” stated Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, Arie Budhiman, Saturday (9/13).
According to him, tourists from Taiwan are not as much as tourist from other Asian countries, such as Malaysia, China, Singapore, Japan, and Philippine. However, tourists from Taiwan are still potential to be tilled because of their characteristics. Aside for leisure, the Taiwanese visit Jakarta also for business purposes, family visit, and MICE (meeting, incentive, conference, and event).
Through Coastal Tourism Study Tour Held to Attract More TouristAccording to Statistics Central Bureau (PBS) data, Jakarta is the second in row for cities visited in Indonesia after Bali by Taiwanese. Along January-July this year alone, as many as 123,400 Taiwanese were recorded entering Jakarta from two entrances, namely Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Tanjung Priok Port. For that, Budhiman is optimistic the number could be increased in the future.
“Besides keep on revamping various sectors related to Jakarta’s readiness in accepting foreign tourists visit, Jakarta Provincial Government is also consistent in holding tourism promotional events and encouraging wider bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Taiwan,” he uttered.
