Jakarta KPID Award 2019 Raises Theme of Smart Quality Broadcast

Jakarta Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID) held KPID Award 2019 on Friday (11/22).

Through this award, we want to encourage broadcasting institution and people who are involved in this sector to present the best broadcast program in accordance with P3SPS

This event is held to appreciate broadcasting institutions for their hard work in presenting good quality and educating programs.

Jakarta KPID Head, Kawiyan mentioned, almost all programs presented by broadcasting institutions both television and radio can't be separated from entertainment nuance in order to attract the interest of its audiences and listeners.

KPID Asked to Intensify Literacy and Education Broadcast Activities

But unfortunately, there are several entertainment programs which contents are less educational, full of violence scenes, pornography, bullying, and not children-friendly.

Many of those programs are violating the provisions that have been regulated in Broadcasting Code of Conduct and Standards of Broadcast Programs (P3SPS) just in order to get higher rating.

Actually, Law (UU) No. 32/2012 about Broadcasting regulates all broadcasting institutions to realize the broadcasting world that is able to shape national identity, noble character, personality in culture and educate the nation's generation. Thus the main objective of this law is to form community with superior and highly competitive characters.

"Spirit to create broadcasting programs with this character should be supported by Jakarta KPID as an independent state institution in broadcasting sector," he conveyed, Saturday (11/23).

According to him, selection process for Jakarta KPID Awards 2019 has been started since July until November. The peak event was held on Friday (11/22) at Menara Kompas Building, Central Jakarta. It was participated by 20 television broadcasting institutions and 13 radio broadcasting institutions. There we re also 13 award categories for broadcasting institutions and 2 special awarding categories.

Those 13 categories are children program, animation program, television talk show program, radio talk show program, Jakarta cultural tourism and exploration television program, Jakarta cultural tourism and exploration radio program, television news programs or journalism special coverage of DKI Jakarta, radio news programs or journalism special coverage of DKI Jakarta, Jakarta public service announcements on television, and Jakarta public service announcements on radio.

Then, television broadcasting institutions with the best local content, radio broadcasting institutions with the best local content, broadcasting institutions with the best monitoring and evaluation. Then 2 special awarding categories of inspiring figures who care about Jakarta broadcasting and Jakarta Provincial Government that cares about broadcasting.

"Through this award, we want to encourage broadcasting institution and people who are involved in this sector to present the best broadcast program in accordance with P3SPS," he asserted.
