Pasar Baru Urban Farming Community Harvests 3.2 Kilograms of Vegetables

Pasar Baru Dasa Wisma Urban Farming Community in Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, harvested 3.2 kilogram of mustard green and bok choy on Jalan Pintu Besi 1's planting area.

Alhamdulillah, it is a great harvest

Pasar Baru Dasa Wisma Urban Farming Community Leader, Ning Wiryana said, this harvesting can be done successfully because of Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Department's coaching and training.

"Alhamdulillah, it is a great harvest. We plant those vegetables using hydroponic method," she conveyed, Thursday (11/29).

Those harvested vegetables distributed to community members and its remaining are sold with price Rp 10,000 per bunch.

"Income that we got from selling the vegetables will be used to buy seeds and other things needed for urban farming," she mentioned.

Meanwhile, Sawah Besar Sub-district TP PKK Leader, Ava Dhina stated, currently there are 46 farmer groups (Poktan)s and hydroponic urban farming community in Sawah Besar Sub-district.

"All Poktans and hydroponic communities are under Jakarta KPKP Department as well as Sawah Besar Sub-district TP PKK," she added.

According to him, Poktans and hydroponic communities can harvest vegetables 3-4 times in a month, such as morning glory, mustard green, and bok choy.

"We will expand our marketing access by utilizing the technology and agriculture bazaar. Hopefully, there will be more people interested to start urban farming in Sawah Besar," she asserted.
