KPKP Agency Develops Chili Cultivation in Jakarta Through Bimtek

We share material on the introduction of diseases in chili plants, chili pests and chili cultivation practices

The Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency says chili cultivation as a commodity that can influence inflation must continue to grow in the capital.

Jakarta KPKP Agency's Urban Farming Division Head, Taufik Yulianto stated there must be counseling or education training (bimtek) towards urban farming activists, either individuals or groups.

"We're also cooperating with the Jakarta Agricultural Technology Assessment Center (BPTP) to hold the Bimtek, pest control and chili disease in Farmers Group or Poktan Maju Makmur Bersama Ulujami, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta," he expressed, Thursday (11/21).

There are 20 participants from poktan representatives, namely Kebun Berseri Bintaro, Malaka Sari East Canal Flood and Maju Makmur Bersama Ulujami.

"We share material on the introduction of diseases in chili plants, chili pests and chili cultivation practices," he explained.

He explained Bimtek is held to improve insight and knowledge to the community thus they can take advantage of limited land and unused land for chili cultivation.

"We want more Jakartans to become urban farming activists, including chili cultivation whose prices can be very volatile," he told.

Jakarta Agricultural Technology Study Center Head Ahmad Arivin Rivaie uttered, through Bimtek, chili farmers in Jakarta can find out the types of diseases and pests that will attack the chili plants.

"By so we can take anticipatory steps and early handling it early to maintain the productivity of the plant," he stated.
