Public Works Department to Be Overhauled

The discourse of massive overhaul in Jakarta’s work units (SKPD) keeps being discussed by Jakarta Provincial Government. It is planned that the overhaul to be realized next year after new fiscal year is running. One of the departments to be overhauled is Public Works Department.

Starts next year per January, after the 2015 fiscal year running and massive echelon officials inauguration

“Public Works Department will become two, namely Water Management Public Works Department and Highways Department. Starts next year per January, after the 2015 fiscal year running and massive echelon officials inauguration,” stated Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama, Monday (9/16).

According to Basuki, the overhaul is conducted because the width of roads and rivers in the capital city is too big. Moreover, Jakarta is passed by 13 rivers, thus making the city very prone to flood.

City to Overhaul Echelon-II and IV Officials

By separating Public Works Department, later Water Management Public Works Department will focus on handling flood and Highways Department to focus on repairing roads in the villages.

“Roads in villages should have been smooth as ordered by Mr. Jokowi,” stressed Basuki.

Besides Public Works Department, overhaul will also be done to Building Control Department and Spatial Department.

“Building Control Department and Spatial Department will be merged. It will be done also in January,” told Basuki.
