Around 5,000 participants took part in the Annual Folk Sports Festival (FORST) for gymnastics held at the Soemantri Brodjonegoro Sports Center, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Sunday (12/8).

Besides improving health and fitness, it was also beneficial to strengthen silaturahmi (friendship) between residents

Those participants were locals from five cities and Thousand Islands, as well as 27 organizations under the Jakarta Indonesian Sports for All Federation (FORMI).

Head of Sports Development at the Youth and Sports Agency Ahmad Djazimi said that it was held to cultivate sport as a lifestyle and improve the quality of social interaction.

"Besides improving health and fitness, it was also beneficial to strengthen silaturahmi (friendship) between residents," he expressed.

It could be a forum or a means of coaching and developing sports, as well as equitable access to sports in the community.

"Hopefully it can create talented athletes," he hoped.
