Jakarta Transportation Department (Dishub) together with Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) carried out ramp check on transport fleets for Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2019/2020.

Dishub's Road Transport Terminal Management Unit Head, Muslim explained, ramp check are carried out in main bus terminals such as Kalideres Terminal, Tanjung Priok Terminal, Pulogebang Integrated Terminal, and Kampung Rambutan Terminal.
Ramp Check in Eight Terminals IntensifiedBesides, he added, it is also carried out in four bus pools in Jabodetabek.
"Ramp check in the main terminals is for regular bus while in bus pool for tour buses chartered by groups of people," he conveyed, Monday (12/16).
He asserted, tour buses roadworthiness also becomes his concern because public demand for renting tour buses is quite high during long weekend.
"We predict there will be high mobility of tour buses on December 21-January 4. Thus we need to conduct ramp check for tour buses before the day we carry out Nataru Transport Operation on December 19, 2019," he informed.
According to him, bus is allowed to operate if the brake, steering, and lights are functioned well. Besides, it should be equipped with windshield wiper, glass breaker, fire extinguisher, and not using retread tires.
"Absolutely, we will not allow any bus that hasn't meet the safety standard and operational feasibility," he asserted.
Moreover, ramp checking is an effort to improve the safety of public transport users and reduce the number of traffic accident.
"Ramp checking is needed to ensure the transport fleets are ready to be used. It is our effort to ensure the passenger's safety, comfort, and smooth journey during Nataru 2019/2020 Operation," he mentioned.
