KPKP Intensifies Food Inspection in Markets

Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Department continues to intensify food inspection in traditional markets and modern markets throughout Jakarta.

Jakarta KPKP Department Head, Darjamuni conveyed, it is his job to ensure distributed foods in Jakarta are safe for consumption. Thus his side needs to monitor and check regularly because hazardous substances such as Rhodamin B and chlorine in rice, for example, are very dangerous for health.

"We took 49,520 samples of food from several traditional markets and supermarkets. The result, 99.74 percent of those samples are safe to be consumed," he mentioned, Wednesday (12/18).

KPKP Estimates Subsidized Food Demand Increased by 25 Percent

According to him, there are three laboratories that can be used to monitor and test the fresh foods. Those are owned by Promotion and Certification Center for Agricultural Products, Center for Animal Health and Animal Husbandry, and Center for Production, Inspection, and Certification of Fisheries Products.

"We also operate their three mobile laboratories. We have prepared all things needed for testing facilities," he stated.

According to him, his side will also publish important information related to food security via social media. Thus people can be wise and understand about the importance of food safety.

"Don't be worry, because we monitor and hold food inspection routinely," he asserted.
