Basuki Asks Jokowi to Totally Renovate GBK Stadium

Jakarta Provincial Government keeps doing various works in fixing some supporting infrastructures for the implementation of the 2018 Asian Games in the capital city. One of those infrastructures is the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium.

I have told it to Mr. Jokowi to totally renovated GBK

Since the stadium is central government’s asset, Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama asks elected Indonesia President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo to renovated GBK Stadium totally. With total renovation, the stadium would be more ready in holding sporting events for the Asian Games.

“I have told it to Mr. Jokowi to totally renovate GBK,” said Basuki, Wednesday (9/17).

Basuki: I want Jakarta to Host 2018 Asian Games

According to Basuki, Jakarta Provincial Government must dare to take the risks in holding the 2018 Asian Games. This is because the last time Jakarta became host for the event is in 1962.

“We must be ready first in GBK and Kemayoran to borrow apartments. It’s okay. If you never dare, when would we can? Been since from 1962, it’s a long time,” he expressed.

In addition, Jakarta Provincial Government also asks for assistance from three other provinces to bring success to the event. Those provinces are Banten, West Java, and South Sumatera.

“We must cooperate. That’s why we asked for help from Banten, West Java, and South Sumatera. We also want to build (sporting) venue in UNJ (Jakarta State University) and BMW Park,” told Basuki.
