West Jakarta Administration to Normalize Semongol River

West Jakarta Administration is going to normalize Semongol River, Tegal Alur Urban Village, Kalideres Sub-District. Knowing that, the residents who live along the riverbank are now restless because their settlement is going to be controlled. They hope the local government would give them solution on place to live after the land acquisition is conducted.

Marwiyah (55), resident of RT 03/011 Tegal Alur, admitted has known about this plan because local urban village and sub-district apparatuses have conducted socialization numerous times.
“The socialization has been done many times. Indeed, the plan is demolished (the buildings along the riverbank), but we don’t know when. I’ve had visited Tegal Alur Urban Village office, but the answers I got were different. Some said (the demolition) still long, but others told the boundaries signs installation to be conducted on September 18,” she uttered, Wednesday (9/17).
Heavy Rain, Residential Areas in West Jakarta FloodedResponding on this matter, Head of Tegal Alur Urban Village, Anik Sulastri, informed that the lands belong to 345 families in 17 RTs and 8 RWs Tegal Alur indeed will be acquisitioned.
“If there were no changes, boundaries signs installation is going to be conducted tomorrow, Thursday (9/18). The residents are asking for confirmation from West Jakarta Administration on domicile they could inhabit after the land acquisition,” she told.
Meanwhile, West Jakarta Administration Secretary, Syamsuddin Lologao, explained that at this time Semongol River normalization process is still focused on socialization process and the recording of residents’ buildings affected to the normalization work.
“Later, when the data has completed, it will be continued with land or building acquisition,” he stated.
According to Lologao, Semongol River is normalized because Tegal Alur Urban Village is prone to flood, especially during rainy season and tidal floods. In addition, the river is also normalized because it is now silting and narrowing due to the numerous amount of buildings stood atop on the riverbank.
