136 Street Vendors in Kota Tua will Be Relocated

As many as 136 out of 415 street vendors incorporated in the Kota Tua Arrangement Effort Traders Cooperative (Kopetaf), Tamansari, West Jakarta, will be relocated to the Kertianiaga Building, Jalan Kali Besar Timur No. 8 and 9. Besides relocation, those will also get training and guidance.

CEO of Jakarta Old Town Revitalization Corporation (JOTRC), Lin Che Wei disclosed his side as consortium formed by city administration and stakeholder, like Indonesia Plaza, PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (PPI), etc, is not only focused on street vendors arrangement, but also guidance provision.

As the initial phase, the arrangement and guidance are being conducted on 136 street vendors. Its concept is food court where vendors would be placed in buildings around Kota Tua, like Kertaniaga building.

Tamansari Street Vendors Refused to Move Into Market

"Street vendors will be trained and guided in processing and maintaining the quality of its food products. We do this as a consortium responsibility formed by city administration to arrange street vendors in Kota Tua area," he explained, Saturday (9/20).

He continued, street vendors could also trade longer, starting from at 10 AM-11 PM than initial system at 10 AM-5 PM.

According to Paris Limbong, Head of Tamansari Sub-District, he is fully supporting such way. The rest 280 vendors who sell accessories and retail will also get guidance.

"The current vendors occupying some cluster at Taman Fatahillah will be re-arranged and retributed at appropriate points in order not to hinder access to a number of building owners and visitors. Through arrangement and training, Kota Tua area will be arranged well, clean, orderly and comfortable," he uttered.
