Jakarta Great Mosque Construction Officially Started

The construction of Masjid Raya Jakarta (Jakarta Great Mosque) on Jalan Raya Daan Mogot, Duri Kosambi Urban Village, Kalideres Sub-District, West Jakarta, is officially started after Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo put the first stone or groundbreaking, Friday (9/26).

“Central Jakarta has Istiqlal Mosque, South Jakarta has Al-Azhar Mosque, East Jakarta has At-Tien Mosque, and North Jakarta has Islamic Centre. Later, West Jakarta will have Jakarta Great Mosque,” stated Jokowi.
According to him, Jakarta Great Mosque will be a mosque icon in the capital city because its architecture is Betawi culture style. Moreover, a lake and green open space will be built around the mosque to add the lush ambience of Jakarta Great Mosque.
Great Mosque Construction Targeted Finish in Two YearsMeanwhile, Head of Jakarta Public Housing and Government’s Buildings Department, Yonathan Pasodung, told that the Jakarta Great Mosque is built on a land as wide as 17.6 hectares with its own width is 17,300 square meters and two-story high.
