The work of Monas Area Management Unit (UP) is still suboptimal due to five regional work units (SKPD) have not handed over Monas assets. Those SKPDs are Central Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Sub-Department, Central Jakarta Energy and Industry Sub-Department, Central Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Monas Park UP, and Parking UP.
The whole area of Monas is under Monas Area UP, so its assets in other SKPDs are supposed to be under our authority
“The whole area of Monas is under Monas Area UP, so its assets in other SKPDs are supposed to be under our authority. But unfortunately, Jakarta Finance Management Board (BPKD) has not handed over those assets to us. So, those assets are still belonged to related units,” stated Head of Monas Area UP, Rini Hariyani, Saturday (9/27).
Because of the assets have not been handed over yet, Hariyani continued, many facilities in Monas become not maintained.
Poor Lightings in Monas Complained“Since there is no assets handover yet, until now we cannot do repair work. This is because it must wait for the process which include assets verification by BPKD, then submitted to us to allocate budget for the repair work,” she explained.
According to Hariyani, in the decree (SK) signed by Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo, Monas Area UP authority includes 85-hectare land around the Jakarta’s landmark. The decree also mentioned about three strategic zones that must be managed, namely IRTI traders zone, IRTI parking zone, and deer park zone. Before Monas Area UP was formed, these three zones were managed by two institutions, namely Central Jakarta Energy and Industry Sub-Department that handled lightings and Central Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department that taken care of Monas parks’ cleanliness.
