COVID-19, MRT Imposes Headway Time up to 20 Minutes

PT MRT Jakarta is increasing headway time to 20 minutes starting on Monday (3/30) in light of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic that has prompted the Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to extend a work from home policy for citizens up to 19 April.

It is also based on an evaluation of the number of MRT Jakarta passengers over the past week that has continued to decline compared to normal conditions

"It is also based on an evaluation of the number of MRT Jakarta passengers that has plummeted over the past week," expressed PT MRT Jakarta Corporate Secretary Division Head, Muhammad Kamaluddin, Monday (3/30).

He details, as of March 28, there were only 3,309 passengers. It is lower compared to normal conditions that can hit 100,000.

Starting Today, 10-Minute Headway Applied for MRT Train

The company also still imposes restrictions on the number of passengers per train car to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"Nevertheless, we continue to optimize services," he stated.
