Jakartans, Please Use MRT for Urgent Needs Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

Please make sure your purposes if you want to use public transportation, especially the MRT Jakarta

The public is advised to use the MRT Jakarta only for urgent purposes in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"Please make sure your purposes if you want to use public transportation, especially the MRT Jakarta," asserted PT MRT Jakarta President Director, William Sabandar, Thursday (3/19).

Public Transportation Operational in Jakarta Returns to Normal

Before the rampant COVID-19 case, the number of MRT passengers on regular days is about 100,000 people. Yet its number decreased 31,000 or 69 percent on Tuesday (3/17).

Seeing this, his party assessed the government to reduce activities outside the home is quite effective. It can be seen from the drastic reduction in the number of MRT's daily passengers.

"In the next few days, it is estimated that the number of passengers will decrease along with the increasing number of offices implementing work from home," he told.

As for the information, the PT MRT Jakarta has applied public transportation protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as checking passenger's body temperature and encouraging the use of hand sanitizers for each passenger. They are also urged to maintain personal hygiene and health.

The company has also imposed social distancing from the queue to enter the station, when tap in or tap out and when queuing on the platform to passengers with a minimum distance of one meter. Then apply a restriction of 60 people per train or 360 people per car. They are expected to follow officers' directions at the station.
