Bina Marga Ensures to Follow COVID-19 Transmission Prevention Protocol

Jakarta Bina Marga Agency ensures all project workers follow the COVID-19 Transmission Prevention Protocol in Construction Project that has been issued by Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR)'s Construction Director General and Circular Letter (SE) of Bina Marga Agency Head Number 14/SE/2020.

For regional strategic projects, workers will continue to work on the ground based on the construction service protocol

Jakarta Bina Marga Agency Head, Hari Nugroho stated, Ministry of PUPR Instruction Number 2/IN/M/2020 concerning COVID-19 Transmission Prevention Protocol in Construction Project was addressed to the internal officials in Ministry of PUPR. It means, it does not applied to all levels of agencies/institutions/local government.

But, according to him, there are three things that should be considered, first is high risk project which is located in the center of epidemic.

Second, if found any worker who is positive of COVID-19 and/or stated as patients under investigation (PDP).

Third, is when heads of ministries/institutions/agencies or regional heads have issued regulations to suspend activities temporarily due to certain circumstances.

"For regional strategic projects, workers will continue to work on the ground based on the construction service protocol which issued by the Construction Director General of Ministry of PUPR and the Circular Letter of Bina Marga Head to carry out construction protocol rigorously in the field," he mentioned, Tuesday (3/31).

He continued, when COVID-19 transmission prevention protocol has been carried out rigorously, but then his side found out any worker exposed to COVID-19, thus the project will be forced to stop temporarily.

"This condition is categorized as force majeure, thus the project must be stopped," he added.

According to him, there are several projects that still running until now. Those are construction of three flyovers and one underpass.

"We ensure to carry out project according to protocol of COVID-19 prevention in construction project and the previous circular letters," he closed.
