Tanah Tinggi Citizens Need Solution of Waste

Citizens are complaining and requesting the Tanah Tinggi Urban Village apparatus to immediately relocate the Waste Disposal Site (TPS) located on Jalan Tanah Tinggi Timur, Tanah Tinggi Urban Village, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, to another place. Locals admitted a lot of wastes scattered on the road and has spread rotten smell. 

We worry waste piles can become disease in future

Siti Aminah (49), one of citizens of Jalan Tanah Tinggi Timur, said local citizens are disturbed with the TPS near her residential. The condition is also worsened by many dump trucks lined up to pick up waste, causing the surrounding environment more chaotic.

"We worry waste piles can become disease in future," he expressed, she expressed, Monday (9/29).

She urges Tanah Tinggi Urban Village or Johar Baru Sub-District apparatus to look for a new land for such TPS. "The loading and unloading of dump truck here is also causing traffic congestion," she stated.

Head of Cleanliness Management Section for Central Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Suhama explained his sub-department is routinely deploying two dump trucks to pick up wastes in the TPS per day. "If there is waste pile, I think it comes from waste carts belong to local RT and RW that have been disposed there (TPS)," he argued.

Regarding citizen's demands, he cannot do much because his sub-department only focuses on waste transportation. "We don't have the authority to relocate the TPS. Supposedly, sub-district apparatus could provide empty land," he asserted.

When being confirmed on this matter, Head of Johar Baru Sub-District, Masroni revealed his party will keep trying to look for a land as TPS.

"It is difficult to get land in accordance with the tax value of the properties (NJOP). That's why every meeting with locals, we always tell if there are people who want to sell their land to immediately be reported to us, thus we can follow up it with the mayor," he uttered.
