City and Forkopimda Evaluate the First Three-Day Implementation of PSBB

Jakarta Provincial Government together with Jakarta Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) evaluated their work for the first three-day implementation of Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in Jakarta.

We will add more checkpoints gradually

The evaluation was held in conjunction with national holidays and weekend, thus Jakarta is relatively deserted.

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan expressed his gratitude to the residents who choose to stay at home during PSBB implementation. But on Monday (3/14), there was a higher movement of people from outside of Jakarta. For information, until now the suburbs in West Java and Banten Provinces haven't implemented PSBB yet.

PSBB Supervision at Kampung Rambutan Terminal Tightened

"We will sync with the suburbs. Insya Allah, West Java could implement it on Wednesday, and as soon as possible in Banten thus it can be much easier for us to enforce the regulation," he said as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release at City Hall, Monday (4/13) night.

Moreover, Jakarta Government with assistance from army and police (TNI/Polri) have guarded several checkpoints to ensure residents comply with PSBB regulations. There are 11 checkpoints in Jakarta borders, 13 checkpoints in stations and terminals, 5 checkpoints in toll entrance gates, and 4 checkpoints within the city.

"We will add more checkpoints gradually. When PSBB implementation has been synchronized with the suburbs, then it will be easier for us to crack down on violators. We will be strict for those who violate the PSBB regulations," he asserted.

Regarding points that regulate online motorcycle taxi or two-wheeled vehicle, his side still impose the regulation by referring to the Minister of Health Regulation No. 9/2020 concerning PSBB Implementation. Therefore, city will continue to enforce the regulation where app-based motorcycle taxis can transport goods, but are not allowed to transport people.

"It also applies for other two-wheeled vehicles. But it is not a problem for family members who are from the same house, same address (from ID card), and use two-wheeled vehicle together. It is also not allowed for drivers who transport people for business purpose. Because it has high potential to transmit disease," he explained.

Furthermore, Jakarta Government will evaluate, review, and punish companies outside the excluded sector which continue to operate during PSBB period. Decisive action that can be given is business license revocation.

"Some people still go to work because company didn't reduce activities in the office nor implemented WFH, and some remained in the office or business place. It clearly violates PSBB. It is important to realize that PSBB is not about government, but about protecting Jakartans from COVID-19 transmission. If there are companies who commit violations repeatedly, we can revoke their business license. We hope that doesn't happen, so it should be obeyed," he conveyed.

He reminded all sides to maintain physical distance, stay at home, and people should wear face mask when leaving the house. He hopes all of these advice to be carried out by all components of the community in order to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission.
