Pasar Jaya Continues to Increase Traders' Existence Amid COVID-19

City-owned market operator Pasar Jaya is cooperating with the online shopping app, Shopee Indonesia in a bid to improve the existence of traditional market traders amid Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

We give them a chance to market their products more broadly

Pasar Jaya President Director Arief Nasrudin said this cooperation was made to maintain the wheels of the economy. Besides helping small and medium micro enterprises (UMKM), the app users can also enjoy special offers from traditional traders that can be bargained with guaranteed market and wholesale prices.

"We give them a chance to market their products more broadly. Besides offline customers, but also Shopee customers all over Indonesia. Hopefully it can support them for fixed income in this pandemic," he expressed, Monday (5/11).

Further, it will start from Tanah Abang Market which sells a wide selection of fashion products, whereby users can find a variety of needs such as Eid clothes, mukena (head-to-toe woman's prayer gowns), children's clothes, fashion accessories, etc, with low prices below Rp. 100,000 and additional cashback.

Then it will be continued to Pramuka Market, which offers a variety of vitamins and medicines and is expected to continue to the entire market under Pasar Jaya.

In addition, its cooperation gets positive response from Shopee Indonesia Director Handhika Jahja.

"Shopee's initiative was motivated by the magnitude of the impact on UMKM partners due to the adoption of the PSBB. Therefore, we hope that our platform can be used as a medium in advancing and lightening the traders' burden in order to be able to organize their lives with an online business," he stated.
