Social Agency Provides Budget Rp 558.17 Billion to Assist Elderly

Jakarta Government through Social Agency will provide assistance for 77,524 elderly with total budget Rp 558,17 billion. This assistance will be distributed through Jakarta Elderly Card (KLJ) program.

Each elderly will get welfare fund as many as Rp 600,000 per month

Jakarta Social Agency Head, Irmansyah stated, each elderly will get welfare fund as many as Rp 600,000 per month. Regarding to this case, his side ensured to verify and validate KLJ beneficiaries.

"The prospective KLJ beneficiaries data were recapitulated to be proposed as potential recipients for social assistance (Bansos) in accordance with Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) No. 100/2009 about Providing Social Assistance for Meeting the Basic Needs of the Elderly," he stated on Monday (5/11).

200 Elderly Citizens in Pademangan Received Staple Food Packages

This program is targeted elderly in all Jakarta regions. In detail, there are 13,309 elderly in Central Jakarta; 17,083 elderly in North Jakarta; 12,617 elderly in West Jakarta; 10,591 elderly in South Jakarta; 23,178 elderly in East Jakarta; and 746 elderly in Thousand Islands.

"As many as 38,415 beneficiaries in 2019 have been registered and re-verified. While the remaining beneficiaries with total 39,109 elderly are still waiting the distribution process," he mentioned.

According to him, beneficiaries who have been registered and re-verified can directly withdraw the fund by accessing the nearest Bank DKI ATM outlets.

"At this time, both the old and new KLJ fund haven't distributed yet because it is still in process of disbursement at BPKD. While new KLJ beneficiaries should wait for card distribution because people are not allowed to gather in order to anticipate spread of COVID-19," he closed.
