Dishub Personnel Dispatched to Monitor Car Free Day Event

A number of Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) personnel are dispatched to the weekly Car Free Day event on Jalan Sudirman and Jalan MH Thamrin, which aims to ensure people who exercise comply with the COVID-19 health protocol.

If they ignore it, they will be subject to sanctions

"We prohibit people who have unhealthy symptoms, the elderly, pregnant women and children in the event," expressed Syafrin Liputo, Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency, Sunday (6/21).

His agency is also about to urge people to maintain physical distancing, wear masks and protect themselves with a hand sanitizer.

"If they ignore it, they will be subject to sanctions as stipulated in Gubernatorial Regulation number 41/2020," he explained.

He explained the event itself is held by consistently separating the three main activities namely, the rightmost lane is intended for cyclists, the left lane for residents who are jogging and the sidewalks for pedestrians.

"No permissive word for the activity outside the intended lane," he stressed.

According to him, as many as 453 personnel spread to 79 points with details, 51 points are for insulation in and out of visitors and 28 points are blocking vehicle access. Personnel at these pints are assigned to record visitors entering and exiting the event area.

As for the personnel at 28 points are assigned to banish motorized vehicles into the area.

"It is done to sterilize the Sudirman - Thamrin area," he told.

He added the event this time is different than before which aims to open public space in Jakarta thus people can use it for healthy and safe activities from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It is compliance with health protocols and be our joint effort, that Jakarta in this transition period can create a healthy, safe and productive community," he closed.
