Sanksi Administrasi Pelanggaran KBRL Tidak Sasar Pembeli

LH Reminds People to Beware of KBRL Hoax Information

Jakarta Environment (LH) Agency reminds people to be aware of hoax related to the policy of eco-friendly shopping bags (KBRL) usage.

None of the sanctions targeting the customers

Jakarta LH Agency Head, Andono Warih mentioned, several hoax circulating are such as "Shopping using plastic bags which brought from home will still be fined Rp 250,000. Be careful of apparatuses who monitor in front of store/mall. Be careful and checking, if use plastic bags will be fined Rp 25 million. So, merchants and customers are prohibited to use plastic bags even though bring it from home".

Those circulating messages were circulated through WhatsApp since Monday (7/6) and attached photo of personnel who conducted monitoring.

"Let me confirm that it is hoax made by irresponsible person," he asserted, Thursday (7/9).

He explained that LH Agency was sure for not imposing administrative sanctions related to KBRL usage on customers. The sanction is only imposed on three legal subjects as regulated in Jakarta Gubernatorial Regulation No. 142/2019, namely the management of shopping centers, supermarkets, and traditional markets.

"None of the sanctions targeting the customers. Even the sanction that we impose on the managers is more similar to advice that given in stages," he said.

The purpose of KBRL policy, he continued, is to ensure Jakarta to be more environmentally friendly and less in producing waste in the community activities. Thus KBRL monitoring is not carried out with aim to seek violation, but rather the effort to change people's behavior.

"Our main purpose is not adding city's revenue by seeking violations. But we want to change people's behavior thus all of our activities can be more environmentally friendly," he stated.
