Vice Governor Campaigns COVID-19 Health Protocols at Tebet Timur Market

This is our procedure after we find the case in the market and continued with spraying disinfectant for three days ahead

Jakarta Vice Governor Ahmad Riza Patria (Ariza), Friday (7/17), conducted health protocols and eco-friendly shopping bags campaigns at Tebet Timur Market, Tebet, South Jakarta.

"As of July 13, the DPP IKAPI has noted that 273 vendors in 43 markets are infected with COVID-19. While in Indonesia, the number is already more than 1,053 vendors spread in 190 markets in 80 districts/cities. This is our common concern that the market should be part of the people's economic activities, yet there are found many positive cases of COVID-19," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He stated this case caused some markets closed temporarily and sterilized by spraying disinfectants.

"This is our procedure after we find the case in the market and continued with spraying disinfectant for three days ahead," he told.

Nevertheless, he assessed, the city administration had issued various policies, either at the level of governor's regulation or implementation in society.

"To overcome it, we make kampung siaga program in order to monitor every smallest environment at RW level, which aims to implement the COVID-19 protocol, provide isolation houses, social aid data and so on, including testing, tracing, and isolating," he added.

Aside that, his party also promoted eco-friendly shopping bags usage in traditional markets in accordance with Gubernatorial Regulation number 142/2019 on the mandatory use of eco-friendly shopping bags.

"This program has long been launched. Jakarta's waste has exceeded no less than 7,800 tons per day, disposed to Bantar Gebang and it is also full until 2021 so control measures must be taken from the downstream thus this campaign becomes important to reduce waste and protect the environment, whereby no less than 14 percent of the citizens' waste every day comes from plastic bags," he added.

As for the information, besides the vice governor, there are also Indonesian Indigenous Entrepreneurs Association  (HIPPI) Chairman, Sarman Simanjorang; Perumda Pasar Jaya Director representatives; Jakarta Environmental Head, Andono Warih; South Jakarta Mayor, Marullah Matali; as well as ranks of related sub-district and urban village.
