Thousand Islands Develops Perkarangan Pangan Lestari Program in Six Urban Villages

The Thousand Islands Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency continues to develop the Pekarangan Pangan Lestari (P2L) program in six urban villages across Jakarta. 

Various types of plants are planted on the residents' yards

Its development will involve the farmer women's group (KWT) through hydroponic and conventional cultivation of vegetable and fruit crops.

"Various types of plants are planted on the residents' yards and vacant land to increase greening and food security in Thousand Islands," expressed Thousand Islands KPKP Sub-agency Head, Parsan, Wednesday (8/19).

He added, in several coached locations such as Kampung Kelor, Tidung Island, which was together with KWT Hijau Lestari, Pramuka Island, had often harvested various types of vegetables such as pakcoy, chilies and kale.

As for the other four urban villages were starting the seeding process of vegetable seeds and that it was predicted that the first harvest on August 27.

"Hopefully, besides balanced consumption of vegetable protein for citizens, the residential environment also becomes more beautiful and adds to the aesthetics of the yard," he stated.
