Illegal Buildings Above Waterway Demolished

As much as 60 illegal buildings above Kedondong Mawar waterway, Jalan Haji Mawar, Sunter Jaya, Tanjung Priok, were curbed on Wednesday (10/15). The water from waterway always overflow when the rain pours.

The buildings violate Bylaw No 8/2007

The waterway as wide as 3.5 meter is canal which crosses RW 03, 06, and 07 of Sunter Jaya Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district, towards Danau Sunter.

Ramlan (23), one of the RW 03 citizens, the overflow water from the waterway could reach 20 cm when the rain pours. this is caused by many buildings above the channel.

"The water reached 50-80 cm during big flood in early 2014 ago. We hope the building could be demolished all," he hoped, Wednesday (10/15).

Suci Sintya, Vice Sunter Jaya Urban Village, said her side has done the socialization on Monday (10/13).

"The buildings violate Bylaw No 8/2007. We deployed 135 personnel from Satpol PP, cleanliness, Army, and police," she told.

Suci admitted, the demolishment was applied for semi-permanent buildings, while the permanent building is still waiting for the normalization project.

"The process should be run with the normalization," she added.

About the normalization, her side has proposed to North Jakarta Public Works for Water Management Sub-department. It is hoped the project can be started next year.
